As Niels Henrik David Bohr, Nobel Prize in Physics said:
”Every great difficulty bears in itself its own solution. It forces us to change our thinking in order to find it”.
Too many times, I have been taught: “to beat the demons so that…”.
This is not working for me and I realise neither for any of us.
Because when we do this, we are still in a fighting mood.
OK, some of you will argue that you can achieve a lot in this mood.
Yes, it’s true.
But how much more can we achieve, when we are not fighting what comes in front of us but instead accept it, embrace it, learn and thrive from it.
Then we become the best version of ourselves and we can accomplish the Extraordinary.
HOW TO TRANSFORM CHALLENGES INTO SUCCESS
Let’s examine the five major problems - Loss of Focus, Stress, Fear, Injury, Burnout - elite performers come across on their path to success. Since the mind is the place where they all start, it is of upmost importance to understand the intrinsic relationship between them.
One underlying factor for these obstacles to appear is a poor concentration or the lost of it. When high performers are deprived of their concentration, it becomes impossible for them to perform at their top level. If an ordinary being needs concentration just to brew a cup of tea, how much more important concentration is to accomplish the extraordinary?
A poor concentration or the complete loss of focus deprives us of our mental peace. This opens the door to stress and fear. These, in turn, are mains conditions for injuries to happen and for a less effective immune system. All of this, if not dealt properly will develop in a burnout. Due to the interdependence of these five hindrances and how one feeds another, I present them in this specific order bellow.
Unlike many of us, elite performers meet regularly with exceptional pressure, intense scrutiny by experts, public, associates, critics, reporters and a very high incentive for success. When they allow negativity to creep in their mind, this is the perfect soil for the inner diseases such as Loss of Focus, Stress and Fear to grow.
These inner demons give easily rise to injury. For example, when an athlete looses concentration and distraction establishes itself in his mind, an injury can occur due to a fall or an uncoordinated movement.
When repeatedly submitted to these four obstacles, the motivation, emotional and physical strength are depleted from oneself, giving rise to Burnout.
Therefore, it is important to tackle one by one these hindrances through understanding how thoughts and emotions affect your body and performances. Together, we establish the correct strategy, we train to gain the appropriate skills to fully eradicate any interference to success and to your greatest achievement.
